Apple Releases 2nd Generation AirPods

Studies show that the average American spends more than four and a half hours per day listening to music. That’s approximately 31.5 hours a week. Some of these hours are spent listening to music through Apple AirPods. In fact,15.9 million units of AirPods were sold within the first half of 2019. This number is continuously increasing, predictions believe that in the year 2020, 800 million units will be sold.

Apple released new AirPods Pro on October 30, 2019. They have made a few internal improvements from the recent AirPods. The AirPods Pro are water and sweat resistant, unlike the original AirPods.

An impressive feature on the AirPods Pro is the noise cancellation and transparency mode. Noise cancellation blocks out any outside noises. But, transparency mode can be turned on which allows those outside noises to be heard.

“The new noise cancellation tech in them is remarkable, but too expensive when they too have non-replaceable batteries will lose their capacity to charge after a few years of use,” said Joseph Dowling, a member of Padua’s technology department.

Apple has also made some physical changes to the AirPods original appearance. The new AirPods are 0.37 mm smaller in height, although they are 0.04 grams greater in mass.

A flaw of the original AirPods was that the size of the in-ear tip being a “universal fit.” Unfortunately, the AirPods sizing didn’t fit for everyone which is why the AirPods Pro have a customizable fit. The AirPod Pros can be ordered with rather small, medium, or large silicone tips that click into place, making sure anyone can enjoy the AirPods Pro.

AirPod Pros can be purchased  today for $249.
