The young women at Padua Academy have a variety of amusing talents, fascinating gifts, and inspiring stories. Padua 360 took the time to hear a few of their individual stories and share them with you.
Everyone has heard of Natalie Roddy from her beautiful singing voice during Padua masses. We all crane our necks when we hear her voice to get a better view of this amazing singer. For those of you who do now know the person behind the voice, Natalie is a junior at Padua Academy. She enjoys singing and spending time with her family. She is creative, hilarious, and an all around good person. I was curious to find out more information about Natalie’s life and background.
Natalie’s earliest memory of childhood was singing in the bathtub with her dad. Singing has always been a part of her life. From an early age Natalie was always found singing, humming, or whistling. Since grade school, she has been in the school choir. Natalie also sings at mass at St. Matthew’s School almost every Sunday. She has made Delaware’s All State chorus for four years in a row. This is one of Natalie’s favorite experiences. Music seems to be Natalie’s outlet, and it helps her to bring out her emotions, whether they be sad, happy, or even angry. Natalie stated, “Music is my medicine.”
Music is not the only important part of Natalie’s life. Natalie tries to put time aside for her family. She loves her family, especially because she knows that they will always be there for her. One of the most difficult times for Natalie was when she lost both her grandmothers. She realized that the saying, “You don’t know what you have till its gone,” is true. Even though this was a sad time, her family all came together and stayed strong. The one who was the strongest was Natalie’s mom. Natalie looks up to her mom, and says she is one of her best friends. Her mom has taught her many valuable lessons in life, which she puts into action every day.
The most important lesson Natalie has learned in life is do not take anything for granted. She appreciates her family, friends, and education. Natalie knows education will help you in life, and takes hold of her opportunities. Natalie excels in school. She was top two in her middle school class, and earned a scholarship to Padua Academy. Natalie was accepted into Padua’s National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors. As everyone heard, Natalie also received a 101 on her History Day project. Natalie works hard and earns everything she gets. All of her determination will help her in the long run.
Natalie has a bright future ahead of her. She hopes to go to college for nursing, but also have a minor in voice to become a voice teacher. Eventually, Natalie wants to settle down, get married, and have children. She would also like to travel and explore new places. Natalie is excited for the future.
Natalie believes life’s events have shaped who she is. She has had highs and lows, and each have played a role in her life. In the beginning of her life, Natalie was timid and shy, but through life’s events, Natalie transformed into an outgoing and confident person. Natalie has also had an impact on other people’s lives. Natalie’s mom jokes, “She’s a good girl, I like her, so I think I’ll keep her.”
