Course Selection Addition: AP Comparative Government
As Padua students select their courses for next year, they might see additional electives that they may enroll in. The history department, a popular elective holder, has decided that for the 2017-2018 school year they will offer a new course named AP Comparative Politics and Government. “It was brought here because we feel the need to have another government course within the social studies department”, says history teacher Ms. Guarni. Offered to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, the class will be focused on global perspective of government and politics. “It won’t just be focused on US politics”, says Ms. Guarni “It’s looking at politics from a global perspective”.
Some students are excited for the new course at Padua, and many are seizing the opportunity to enroll. “I think it’s a really good idea to add a new government course”, says Maddy P. ‘18. “It offers a view on politics and government structures around the world that our normal American-centri government classes typically don’t”. When asked about the course and her hopes Ms. Guarni says “My hope is to inspire students to become more passionate about politics. I love politics, it’s what I went to school for. I hope that those who take the course come out of it love it as well”.
