Midterm Study Tips

Before you know it you are going to be worried, and studying last minute for the midterm you have for the next day. Lasting four days out of a regular school week, midterms test you on what you have learned in that specific class during the first semester. “Midterms stress me out because I have sports after school andI get home later than usual.  When I get home I still have to study  for midterms, do homework and study for other tests and keep my grades up. There is just a lot to keep track of and to study for. I feel like I have a constant headache from trying to retain all this information,“ says Anna Przywara, sophomore at Padua Academy. Midterms are one of the most stressful times for Padua students. Here are some quick tips to make sure that you are prepared for your midterms:

  • Make note cards- note cards help while studying because you can quiz yourself
  • Make sure your study is organised and you can also get some tips on this site on focusing better.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to study- cramming all the information you need to know for your midterm the night before the exam will not go well. If you study for at least 10 or 15 minutes a day, more information will be comprehended
  • Stay organized- organization is a big thing while getting ready for midterms, and even all through the school year. To be organized for midterms you can have a folder for each class with your study guides and the information you need to know for the exam so maybe you don’t lose important papers
  • Go see your teacher about questions you have that may be on the exam- going to see the teacher for that subject that you may not be doing so well in will most likely help you out a lot. The teacher will answer any questions you may have so you can get  a better understanding of the subject
  • Study in a place where you are comfortable- some people prefer to study with music while others prefer to study in silence

There are also other ways to study. “My favorite way to study is by looking off of the study guides that my teachers give me,” says Lindsey Dann. If a teacher gives you a study guide to study from, focus on that instead of making your own study guide. If you do all of these tips you are guaranteed to do well on your exams.
