One of Padua’s many activities available to students is Academic Bowl. The Academic Bowl team participates in competitions among the New Castle County Catholic High Schools of Archmere, Padua, Salesianum, St. Elizabeth’s, St. Marks High School, and Ursuline Academy. There are a total of five evening meets and a final championship meet which is held at St. Elizabeth’s during Catholic Schools week in February. The meets are divided into four segments. Two segment individuals are allowed to ring in to answer, like on Jeopardy, and two of which each team works together to answer a group of questions on a specified topic. During the competition, the teams are asked questions from a variety of topics such as history, literature, religion, mathematics, science, geography, world affairs, sports, etc. The moderator for this activity is Mr. Miller. To prepare for the meets, students run drills and answer practice questions related to various topics. Six seniors, two sophomores, and five freshman are in this activity. Freshman Abigail Leonard stated “Academic Bowl has challenging and advanced questions and I enjoy doing this activity with my friends.”
