Rainbow Looms: Are These The New Trend?

It all started when inventor Choon Ng was with his daughters who were making bracelets out of small rubber bands.  Choon tried to join in but it was difficult because his fingers weren’t small enough.  He began to create a wooden board with multiple rows of pins.  His daughters were amazed and used the board to make gifts for friends, and soon suggested he sell the loom.  It took awhile for these rainbow looms to become successful but in 2012 a Learning Express Toy Store bought and reordered the bracelets.  Today the store says the rainbow looms are a great portion of their sales right now and over a million units have been sold.  The rainbow loom kit is listed as one of the top toys of the summer of 2013 on the chain’s Web site.  How-To videos have even been posted online with 4.6 million views.  Here at Padua many girls wear the bracelets.  Their popular for all ages and even boys wear them.  Freshman Sydney Johnson says she likes rainbow looms because “they are cool and colorful.”
