Hurricane Sandy: 1 Year Later

Exactly one year from October 29, Hurricane Sandy struck the east coast. It is counted as one of the most dramatic storms in decades that have hit this side of the United States. Sandy has done a lot of destruction towards people and places, but everyone has come a long way since then. This super storm did much flooding, wreckage, and the start of fires.

October 29 will always be a day to remember, as we think of the people whom may have been injured or killed, the buildings that had to be rebuilt, and the land that was washed away. Though Sandy has made much devastation, this day is also a way to look at the unbelievable progress that has been made.

New York Staten Island and the Jersey shore were the most destructed places on the east coast by far. Seeing the land after Sandy had hit, people never knew how they could possibly make it back to normal. Though the scars from this storm are still evident, the renovations are not slowing down a bit. Much tourism, money, communities, and livelihood have come back to the way they were, yet some places are still far from over.  This day is still celebrated with victory and will go down in history.  Chris Christie tells, “we have made tremendous progress,” since super storm Sandy.
