During the week of April 7, Padua honored its senior class with Senior Spirit Week. Each day was given a different theme, including excessive jewelry, future college spirit wear, senior spirit wear/colors, throwback Thursday, and the senior class retreat. The girls received a free Panera lunch on Wednesday and free gifts from Student Council that applied to each day’s theme. Each day celebrated the unity of the senior class before they depart the “big box of love” on May 16.

On Friday 120 seniors gathered in a small room of the Antonian, down the street from Padua for their retreat. They shared their memories of Padua and their concerns about beginning college and leaving the comfort of Padua and their classmates. Senior Emily Evans also created a music video and wrote a song to the tune of “American Pie” that senior Lucy Vavala sang which demonstrated the class’s journey from freshman year to senior year. The girls had the privilege to be joined by Christian singer, Sarah Hart, who came into Delaware to perform at the Wilmington pilgrimage. She gathered with the senior class and led them in song and activities before returning to Padua with the seniors to give a concert for the entire student body.

The senior class was willing to participate and all in all had a great time. Senior spirit week was a chance to show how proud the class is of their school and how close they are as a class. Lauren Eck, who plans to attend West Chester University next year to study education, said, “‪I think that retreat was really well done. I liked the activities. It was good to have just a day to spend with our class. It was very calm and Emily’s song truly came at the best time. ” The girls laughed, sang, and had some close calls with tears but ultimately got to celebrate their friendship and faith together. Now with a month left until graduation, the girls are soaking up all of their opportunities to be with one another.
