Padua’s legacy continues to be passed down for generations. The tradition makes students wonder about the women who have shaped the Padua sisters of today. It also causes students to be thankful and cherish the time they have at Padua. Students experience a bit of  the legacy for themselves at their Freshmen Convocation.

Held at St. Anthony’s Church, the ceremony welcomes freshmen into the school and honors sisters of the past. Isabel Funk (‘17) had her Freshman Convocation last year and remembers it well, “I remember how honored I felt standing next to my mother, and knowing I too would be part of Padua’s legacy,” she said. When asked what Padua’s legacy means to her, Isabel responded, “Padua’s legacy is sisters all learning and being a part of  a school together.” In addition, Catherine Lastowka (‘18) stated, “The legacy means that this school is one of wonderful people and opportunities made possible by the first generations to attend the school, and allows more people to come and cherish Padua for what it is, by those who are proud to call it their Alma Mater.” While students’s belief on the legacy may differ, one aspect remains true: the legacy will forever be adored by students and bring forth many memories for the generations to come.
