As the day was beginning, it wasn’t too fun to have to wake up at 5:00 in the morning, but I have been to New York City before, and waking up early was worth it to spend the whole day in the city. New York is definitely a good place to go with family and friends. There are so many sights to see and places to visit so you won’t be bored of walking around.

As my family and I arrived, we started our trip by visiting the St. Patrick’s cathedral. It was beautiful to go inside and see the the alluring architecture in the building. After that, we walked to Saks Fifth Avenue which was a great sight to see. Saks is a department store that has amazingly decorated store fronts. There was a different theme and setting in each window and just walking down and looking was really exciting just to see all the different decorations. We also went and saw the store fronts in Macy’s, Lord, and Taylor and not one window was the same. When we were done seeing those sights, we went into Rockefeller Center. Rockefeller is definitely a huge attraction in New York, mainly because of the shows filmed there like Saturday Night Live and the Today Show.

After all of those sights and activities we went out to lunch. New York has so many places to eat, whatever kind of food or theme you want while eating. For example, if you desire a dark and cozy setting or a bright and happy setting, there will be different places you can find to eat like that. My family and I went to eat a place called Burger Joint. This was a small restaurant that had amazing burgers and fries and I would definitely recommend it.  The feeling of the restaurant was kind of different because you could write on the walls and it was very laid back but it’s connected to a very nice hotel and building you wouldn’t think they’d be together, but very cool and fun. After lunch we went to the best thing you can see in New York during the winter, the tree. So many people come to New York to see the lighting ceremony but even if you don’t see that, just seeing tree is amazing. It is a huge and has so many glowing, beautiful lights all the way from the top to the bottom. Right next to the tree is an ice skating rink and even if you don’t ice skate, you can still watch the skaters and the tree.

After the tree, we walked to an amazing toy store called FAO Schwarz. A toy store might not sound that fun for older kids, teenagers, and adults but it was cool to walk through. There’s so many different things to try out and look and even just walking through is fun. The store is so big and kids are able to do hands on activities in the store which makes it an even better experience. As we left the store, my family and I went to Madison Square Garden to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas play. The play was very well put together and very entertaining. The theatre was also very big and lively.

Once was the play finished, it was already around 5:30, so my family and I walked around a little to see the city lights, went out to dinner, then got on the train and went home. That experience in New York wasn’t the first but one of my favorites even after roaming the job market in White Plains. New York is such a great place to visit no matter who you’re with, there is just so many things to do and sights to see the day never gets boring. I would recommend visiting the city whether it’s in the Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter. Every season brings different things to do and see.
