Are you stressing about how to study for midterms? Don’t know where to start? Here are a few tips that can help you study for midterms;
- Freshman: Take advantage of the midterm review that the National Honor Society is holding on Monday, January 9th.
- Keep your information organized.
- Try writing note cards or forming outlines for important information.
- Follow the review guides that your teachers give you. Most of the time, if a topic is not on the review guide then it will not be on the midterm.
- Don’t study in a room where you know that you will distracted by computers, social networks, radios, televisions, siblings, or friends.
- Keep your phone turned off and in another room.
- Find a study place that is quite and comfortable such as a desk, a home office, or a library.
- Avoiding studying in your room, on your bed, or late at night.
- Make sure you have all your books, notes, and materials in the room with you. This will prevent you from always getting up to find those materials.
- Manage your time wisely. Make a study schedule and stick to it.
- Don’t go out with friends when you know you have a midterm the next day.
- Look at your test schedule frequently–know which test to study for first. Don’t study first for a test that you have on the last day.
- Don’t try to study for everything all at once. Organize groups of subjects that you will specifically study on each day.
- To avoid confusion, don’t study for similar topics on the same day. Separate topics such as math and science.
- Take short breaks in between studying for each topic.
- Get a small group of friends and have a group study session.
- Get a good night’s sleep the night before the test and eat a filling breakfast the morning of.
- While taking the test, stay calm and don’t freak out if you don’t know the question–just skip it but mark the question so that you will be sure to go back to it later. When you are finished with the test, go back and fill in the answers that you skipped.
- If you have extra time after finishing, review all your answers.
- Most of all, just RELAX and everything will be fine.
