Some say that we must have bad days in order to appreciate the good days. Others say that we would not even know the difference if we did not endure both a good and a bad day. I on the other hand beg to differ. I feel as though if bad days never existed then good days would be the norm, that way we would appreciate everyday. Also, I am pretty sure someone in their right mind would be able to spot the difference from a mile away. I mean, even I can look at someone and decide whether they are having a good day or not. The smallest things can trigger the worst day ever, the trick is show the obstacles and adversities whose boss and I have a pretty good idea how.
It isn’t until I started high school that I realized what a hassle it is just to wake up in the morning. My alarm clock just seems to be helplessly in love with me and is obsessive and jealous about the relationship that I have with my bed. No matter how many times I turn him down by pressing ignore and don’t entertain the thought by not even turning him on; he always comes back and I can not stand it. When will he understand that no means no and just take the hint and leave me alone. People get “waking up on the wrong side of the bed” and being harassed by the alarm clock confused. With that being said, No I am not cranky because I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I am mad because my alarm clock had a spasm attack while I was trying to sleep. Here are some tips that I found helpful on having a successful morning without being harassed by the alarm clock:
- Set your alarm clock an hour before you have to wake up. Sometimes when we set our clock at the exact time that we wake up, we end up pressing “snooze” so many times that we become late. If we set it an hour early then you can press it as many times as you want without being late.
- Go to bed at a decent hour. Listen to your body because it talks to you, all you have to do is listen to it.
Now the alarm clock, can make a small but legitimate contribution to a bad day, but the most important factor would have to be school. Along with rules, and academics, sports and activities, I think that it is impossible to go through a day without having problems. Getting a single bad grade can mean the end of the world or at least the end of a social life for some, whereas losing a big game can mean World War III or a whole lot of running for others. Or maybe like some (certainly not me, I mean that) have almost broken a camera in Television Production class and that totally ruined your day to the point that you could not focus in any of your classes. What I have learned is that it doesn’t matter what happens to you during the course of the day, your reaction will determine whether you have a bad day or not. My bad days have become almost non-existent in school and there is a method to my madness. Here it is:
- Teachers are paid professionals. We pay them the big bucks to help us and set us on the path of success, if you feel as though they are not doing their job then there might be the opportunity to choose another.
- A bad grade on a test, quiz, project or assignment does not define who you are. Your final grade defines whether you were a successful student or not. So always think of it like this: “Don’t fret, the marking period isn’t over yet.” Unless it is and you have a bad grade and it’s final then this tip would be of no use to you.
- The problem with having many test in one day can not be avoided but if you practice time management skills then you will get a good grade on all the test. Or you could do what I do and choose the one to study for which would be the one you pass, then choose the one you don’t study for and just accept the final outcome.
So after school is over and done, and you can finally go home, take off your uniform and relax. Take the time to think about how your day has gone. Think about the possible tribulations that you avoided and how good you feel. Eat a piece of cake, treat yourself to something tasty. Praise your ability to not let the small things get to you. Then something happens. Something that throws a wrench in all of your hard work and makes you cringe and curse your life. Here are some tips that will help you get through moments that make a good day bad:
- When it comes to stressing over problems at home whether related to friends, family, or other personal problems you must ask yourself one thing. “5, 10 or even 15 years from now, will this even matter?” Too often we stress ourselves out about stuff that will not even matter in the long run. Only worry about stuff that will effect you for more moments then one.
- It has been said many times that “Time heals all wounds.” Take some time to yourself to rejuvenate and relax. Maybe read your favorite book, watch a movie, or even go on Youtube and find a guided meditation tutorial; whatever the case may be; do something nice for yourself that will relax your body, spirit and mind. Personally, sleeping is how I make annoying problems go away.
- Last but not least, LAUGH! When something goes wrong, and there s something that you cannot do about it, laugh until tears begin to come out of your eyes. Problems that you may consider to be bothersome, are daily struggles for some people, so take the opportunity to laugh and remember that like all other problems; the current problem you are having will eventually get resolved anyway.
No matter the day or the time, it is hard to wake up in the morning with full energy and go to bed with a smile. It may seem impossible but it can be possible if you just keep these helpful tips in mind. At the end of the day, you hold the power to make your day a good one or bad. Make it good! Have A Nice Day!
