As Mrs. Mann clarified on PATV, there has been a lot of buzz going around the school about switching up the big sis/lil sis tradition. No one knows for sure what’s happening, and no decisions have been made, but students of every class have opinions about the rumors.
Freshman Thoughts
The freshman class seems to want to maintain the tradition, keeping it just between the seniors and freshmen. “I heard we’re going to have ‘houses’ and not individual sisters, like a whole bunch of big sisters and a couple little sisters. I don’t like it,” said Imani Scott. “I’d rather it stay the same so that I could do all the things I wanted to do as a big sister with my own little sister.” Not a single freshman has been heard encouraging the alleged change.
Sophomore Thoughts
The Sophomore class appears to agree with the freshmen. Even Kylie Puican, who is a sophomore transfer from Red Lion Christian Academy and did not get to experience the little sister program, thinks the tradition should remain unchanged. “It should just be a freshman/senior thing,” she commented. Kristin DiMichele shared her knowledge of the matter, saying, “I heard that next year’s juniors are getting freshmen and have them for two years, so then we’ll be seniors and have sophomore little sisters.” She was more open-minded about it than other students. “I see where they’re coming from, because the little sisters are only having their big sisters for a year whereas they could have them for two. But I’d prefer it not change.”
Junior Thoughts
The junior class isn’t too sure about what’s going on, either. Carmella Cinaglia told us that, “Apparently the seniors are now going to get the sophomores as little sisters and the juniors will have freshmen. But not a one-on-one kind of thing, like, big groups.” She wasn’t so skeptical, either. “I think it’d be fine because I like the freshmen.” But, like all the other interviewees, she said she prefered to preserve the tradition.
Senior Thoughts
Not even the seniors have any clarity on the supposed change. “I heard seniors will have sophomores and juniors will have freshmen and we’re all going to be a family,” stated Jill Schnatterer. She wasn’t too against the change, either. “I think it’s a good idea so we can all somehow be connected.” Nonetheless, her primary wish was for the tradition to continue on as it always has been.
No matter what any of the students say, no one knows for sure what’s happening. It is certain that no decisions have been made – only considered. We need not worry, for we know the administration would only alter the tradition to benefit us. No further information has been released, but we all know no harm will ensue. After all, rumors are rumors.
