Service at Padua

Service is a great way to get involved and make a difference in your community. Service at Padua Academy is taken very seriously. Students are required to have a certain amount of service hours each year in order to progress to the next grade level, and for seniors it is a graduation requirement. To make life a little easier, half of the hours are due in January and the rest in May.  Padua also offers students a website where they are able to track and log their service hours, while simultaneously finding out about new service opportunities.

Mrs. Alinda, the face of service at Padua Academy, introduced UGive to students two years ago. This website has made the process of keeping track of service hours much easier, because students can log them as soon as they are completed. New service opportunities are offered every week on UGive, making it very easy for students to get involved in the community.  Padua has also implemented a new way to get involved in service this school year through the Big Sister Little Sister Program. Big Sisters and Little Sisters have to complete three hours of service together in the month of January as a bonding activity. This way, sisters can get to know each other while helping out in the community.

Jacqueline D’Amico, a senior at Padua Academy, states, “It is so easy to get involved in something fun on Ugive. The ten service hours that are due this month are not hard to achieve at all, because Padua makes it so easy. I feel really good when I am able to help out others in need”.  Opportunities at places such as Mom’s House, Faithful Friends, and Emanuel Dining Room are updated weekly, making it fun and easy for everyone to achieve this service requirement.
