The freshman class of 2015 enjoyed a fabulous start with the new schedule, menu, and uniforms! Many freshmen found that the transition from grade school to high school was rough. Most agreed that the building was complicated to get around at first, but once they figured it out, navigating around the school became easier.
The new schedule now offers an hour of Flex Time to catch up on missed homework, get help with teachers, and study. Freshmen generally said they loved it, and some even thought Flex Time could be longer! Many agreed that high school has a lot of homework, but they have already learned that working hard in class, listening, and asking for extra help pays off. In addition, freshmen have more than enough experienced teachers and upperclassmen that are willing to help them. Both are always available with directions and can be good advisers on how to have a successful year at Padua.
Another new addition to Padua are the uniforms. Everything, including the shoes, socks, and nametags have been changed. Karlee Panella thinks that the uniforms “aren’t the prettiest, but they are easy to throw on” before coming to school. In addition, everyone now wears lanyards in a color that identifies their class year.
Paige Proteat expresses the opinion of many freshmen when she says, “The cafeteria food is pretty good, with lots of choices.” Freshmen enjoy the new menu and like having various options, something many did not have in their middle schools.
All in all, the new freshmen are adjusting to Padua very nicely. They are already making lots of new friends and learning how to become good students.
