For senior Ashley K., music has been more than just background noise. She views music as a unique opportunity of expression and fortitude. Rather than be upset after a challenging day, Ashley puts on her headphones and finds peace through all of the madness that life has in store. One can also create and experiment with music with the help of portable musical keyboards.

Ashley was recently chosen as one of the senior superlative titles of “Biggest Fangirl,” and she has certainly put her new title to use! She attends concerts frequently and enjoys every moment of being surrounded by the ambiance of happiness. A concert is the place where she is most content as she stated, “It’s the music that brings me there. Lyrics to music can change my mood in a matter of seconds almost like it’s a calming thing.”

She proves her point that music is versatile when she states that there is always a song or lyric that can fit right into her mood, making it feel like someone actually feels the same way she does. She agrees, “It’s an amazing feeling.”

She has a long list of musical influences, some of which include Cody Simpson and former band Allstar Weekend. She states that musicians like these “have inspired [her] in very different ways to open up to music.”

Ashley recently reported, “Music has completely changed me.” She continued by describing how music has paved new roads for her that she would not have previously taken. Upon meeting Ashley, there is no doubt how much music truly means to her.

The true meaning behind music for her means more to her than to most others. She stated, “It has allowed me to not only make friends with the bands and relationships with them, but friendships that could last forever from the people I meet at concerts.”

Expression is at the top of Ashley’s list in regards to music’s importance. She commented, “There are some powerful messages through music that can really change a point of view and change a person’s life.” She finds it easy to express herself through music. It makes her feel much more comfortable in any situation, helping to eliminate most all doubts.
