Heather L: The Dancer With Honors Classes
Padua freshman Heather L. is not only kept busy with keeping up in all her classes but also by spending time at an extracurricular activity outside of school–dance. Heather takes almost all honors classes, except for Spanish. Most Wednesdays are spent at her dance studio here in Delaware. When she is not dancing or keeping up with school work, she enjoys watching movies, especially Harry Potter, listening to music, and just relaxing.
A lot of people think that taking honors classes is a lot harder than taking college prep classes, but according to Heather, they really aren’t! Heather says she gets about the same amount of homework in honors classes as college prep, and puts in about as much effort, too. Her classes include Geometry, Biology, Literature, and World Civilizations. Heather takes Spanish, which she took in grade school, Holy Angels. Her favorite class is Sacred Scripture with Mr. Sheehan; her hardest class is either Biology or Geometry.
Heather has been taking classes for multiple styles of dance at the Delaware Dance Center for years, and still enjoys what she does. Heather says, “I like to dance because it takes my mind off of school and it makes me feel good.” Currently, she dances on Wednesdays for two and a half hours. She takes jazz, ballet, pointe, and tap, which is her favorite. Heather’s mother used to dance and thought Heather would like it as well. However, she allowed Heather to begin dancing when she was five instead of a younger age to assure that she was not forcing her daughter to do something that she did not want to do. That means, Heather has been dancing for nine years.
Heather L. has a bright future ahead of her, she is able to take almost all honors classes and still manages to be a dancer on the side.
