Friday, May 3rd was a day that had been talked about in the halls of Padua for weeks. It was the Senior prom, and the theme was “Paradise Awaits”. The day began with a meeting with Mrs.Mann and Mrs.Malneski, and then the 2013 seniors were dismissed at 10:45 to begin the process of getting ready for the night ahead. The prom was held at the Chase Center on the riverfront. The doors opened at 7:00 PM with a receiving line consisting of 15 members of the Padua faculty. From there the students had the option of getting professional pictures taken. Once the students decided to take the photos or not they entered the ballroom, where they were assigned a table with the students they previously selected to sit with. To begin dinner Brother Mike opened with a blessing. Dinner was buffet style with salad, stuffing, green beans, pasta and the option of beef or chicken. After dinner was finished, dancing commenced with the DJ playing hits from Ke$ha, Justin Timberlake, Flo Rida, and more. The dance ended at 11, leaving the seniors with the chance to go to after-prom or home. After-prom was held at the PAL in Hockessin, chaperoned and created by the parents of the seniors. The students had the option to go on four different types of moon bounces, test their luck at karaoke, play basketball, ski ball, get a caricature done, take a photo-booth photo, or eat the delicious food. After prom lasted until 2:30am, and ended with the Padua seniors received a gift bag including a memory book, Padua blanket, and some special treats. The overwhelming consensus from the seniors was “it was a night to remember.”
