Review: The Dream Team

The Dream Team movie is a dramatization of a U.S. dream team’s journey to the international hip hop showcase.  An American team hasn’t won in the last fifteen years. The movie showed an adventurous team, assembled with the best dancers and how they had to bring the trophy back to America where hip hop started. The team recruits dancers from all over the United States with different styles of hip hop under their belts to join the Dream Team.  Directed by Benson Lee and written by Chris Parker and Brin Hill, this movie is definitely one worth seeing.

The cast of Battle of the Year is truly the dream team. From Josh Peck to Chris Brown to Josh Holloway, the actors brought their characters to life.  They showed emotion at the right time and performed amazing tricks as well.  This movie was nicknamed the Dream Team which is fitting because the actors together created a dream team.

From marvelous stunts to learning the hardship of being a dancer, Battle of the Year has it all.   Although many would say it is very much like the movie Planet B-Boy that came out in 2007 that showed the history of breakdancing and its vibrant resurgence in urban cultures around the world, some people would like to disagree with that statement.  Battle of the Year is a movie while Planet B-Boy was more of a documentary of the hip hop style of B-boying.   Battle of the Year showed passion, determination, inspiration, and showed how far these characters had to go to win.  This a movie every dancer and non-dancers alike should see.
