Firefly 2013

From June 21-23, Delaware hosted the second annual Firefly Music Festival at Dover Downs. With the number of acts practically doubled from last year, Firefly attracted nearly 60,000 Americans from all over the country, ready to enjoy the promising acts over the next three days. Because it is in its early stages of development, Firefly can only be expected to grow each year.  More people and more acts which will cause it to eventually be recognized as one of the major music festivals of US, having already been compared to Bonnaroo, Coachella and Lollapalooza. As with all festivals, the music is what drew attendees to Firefly. The festival featured a total of 73 acts across their four main stages, ranging from up-and-coming indie bands to huge household names. The lineup- which consisted of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foster the People, MGMT, Calvin Harris, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Passion Pit, to name a few- featured something for everyone. However music was not all that was offered. Firefly had several other attractions, including an arcade, coffeehouse, hammock forest, charging stations and much more. With only two of the ten year agreement to hold Firefly at Dover Downs complete, Delaware and everyone else can be sure to expect continually good things to come from Firefly 2014 and onward.
