Try Something New this New Years Eve!

2014 is coming to an end, but there is no need to worry because one of the most fun and exciting holidays is just around the corner: New Years Eve.  New Years Eve is such a fun time to be spending a few hours with friends or family.  There are so many fun and exciting things that anybody could do for New Year’s Eve.

If having a party, there are many fun activities to do such as buying some fun colored balloons with the hours counting down from the start of your party to midnight.  Also, you and your friends could hang balloons from the ceiling, and when the ball drops, let the balloons drop with it representing the New Year in your own way.  Of course, nothing is better than watching the ball drop in person, so if you and your family have no idea of what to do on New Year’s Eve you could take a trip to watch the ball drop in Times Square, New York City. Try something new if staying home or going out is a continuous tradition, it is about time you come out of your comfort zone.  If staying in or going out is a tradition, to come out of your comfort zone and embrace a fresh new year. If you still wish to stay home, invite friends and buy some hors d’oeuvres to simply lounging on your couch enjoying each other’s company.  Colleen Murray, Class of 2015, says, “For New Years, me and my family normally buy shrimp and mozzarella sticks and sometimes get together with another family.”

Personally, my family and I normally stay in watching the news stations broadcast the excitement coming off of the people at Times Square.  My mom always brings out a fondue pot and first we have cheese fondue for dinner with many delicious dipping choices.  Afterward we have dessert which is chocolate fondue with all sorts of sweets.  Later we sit around talking about the “resolutions” we will never get around to completing.  New Year’s Eve is a time for fun, and family, and happiness so do not waste it.  Jump out of tradition and try something new, you never know how much fun something can be unless trying it.
