Homecoming Survival Guide

As the school year begins, that means homecoming is right around the corner. With finding a date, to getting the perfect dress, and even what plans to do on the “big night”, all of these are things need to be considered.

Homecoming is the welcome back dance, towards the beginning of the school year at most high schools, where almost all the girls get dressed up with a dapper young man. This special night, is a time for the students of the school to feel pretty or handsome and take time away from school and homework to be surrounded by their friends making memories that will last forever. Whether it’s your first year as a freshmen or even your last ever as a Senior, you want it be as memorable as it can be. Without your “pregame” going as planned, you might look a hot mess, your date might bail on you, or homecoming could get cancelled and there goes all your hard work. That’s why some Padua girls have written up some tips to on how to be as successful as possible.

To begin a homecoming’s preparation, you first need to find a date. Finding a date isn’t as hard as it sounds, all that you need to do is be outgoing, but most importantly be yourself. “If you aren’t yourself then they aren’t the right boy for you”, said junior, Pia Singh.

Second, the dress. The dress “makes or breaks you,” says Jordan Moroski. Start out by setting aside a day on the weekend to go to various different stores either in the mall or even on different websites on the computer and just search for what you look good in and what you like. Don’t worry about “what’s in” or “what your friends are wearing.” As junior Cate Nathan said, “It doesn’t matter what your date thinks you look good in, it’s what you, yourself, feel good in.”

Next are the shoes, the nails, the hairstyle, jewelry, and everything else in between. Again, all of this should be what you think would suit you the best to describe who you are. Most girls could go on Pintrest and see what interests them there.

Don’t think negatively about the whole “homecoming thing”, make it an enjoyable and pleasurable experience and then it’ll be the “special night” you want it to be. Keeping heads high and being open-minded is the way to go. There’s nothing to worry about.
