Meet Kennedy C., a current freshman student at Padua Academy, but once a nervous eighth grader in attendance of Padua’s 2014 Freshman Sports Meeting. At the meeting, Kennedy’s eyes were immediately drawn to the Dance Team’s booth. Despite her initial nerves, she let her confidence break through and tried out for the team. Today, she says that was definitely a decision that she does not regret.

After successfully making the team,  Kennedy quickly learned that the dance team was more like a family than anything else. At first, she thought that the team would be like a competition between the members, but that was quickly proven wrong. Kennedy made friends very easily and quickly realized that everyone on the team was there to encourage her, because they wanted her to succeed. “I love dance team because it is different from all other sports.” says Kennedy. “It allows me to express myself through many styles of powerful and sassy choreographed moves.” Kennedy believes that joining the dance team made her transition into high school a lot easier. She felt comforted knowing that she already had friends to hangout with, and an activity to do going into freshman year.

Aside from dancing, Kennedy loves reading, writing, and listening to music. Her favorite books are 13 Reasons Why and Beastly, and her favorite singer/songwriter is Ed Sheeran. When she’s older, Kennedy aspires to be in the business industry, a lawyer, or an author.

Overall, Kennedy loves Padua and is happy with her decision to join the dance team. Many opportunities have arose for her since her first day at Padua, and she loves that she can express herself through her favorite art and sport of dance.
