Emily+R%3A+The+Dancer

Three days a week Emily R. dances at Anna Marie’s Dance Studio in Wilmington, Delaware. She spends her Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the studio. Emily has been dancing around 8 to 9 years. Since Emily’s sister needed another activity to get into Cab Calloway School of the Arts, her sister began dancing and Emily decided to start dancing, too. Emily use to take tap, ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, and musical theater. However, she only takes jazz, and hip-hop at her dance studio. Her favorite class that she takes is hip-hop and wants to take point, ballet, and contemporary classes.

Emily has considered trying out for the Padua Academy dance team next year as a Sophomore. If she decides not to cheer next year, she is going to take two ballet classes. If she takes two ballet classes, she will then be able to join Anna Marie’s dance competition team. Emily explains that she would rather dance than cheer next year because cheer is more stressful than dance. Emily wants to become a professional dancer after college if that is the path life takes for her.

Emily explains dancing as “a way to let out and express myself.” Emily’s favorite part about dancing is the feeling she gets while performing. She explains this feeling as if no other worries are in her mind she is only focused on the dance itself. Emily does not know if she ever wants to stop dancing it depends on how life changes when she gets older.
