On September 28th 2011, six faithful students portrayed Padua Academy as a prominent witness to the fight for respect of unborn life. The students: Becca K. (‘13), Veronica S. (‘13), Catherine J. (‘13), Monica T.(‘13), Molly W. (‘13), and Emily E. (‘14), were accompanied by Mrs. Jean Piziak and Ms. Mary Lammert as they gathered outside Planned Parenthood in Wilmington to hold a peaceful vigil raising awareness for the Wilmington Dioceses’ campaign, 40 Days for Life. This pro-life campaign of fasting, prayer, and outreach is dedicated to saving the lives of unborn children and turning expecting mothers away from abortion.
In contributing to this noble effort and to the 291 other American cities fighting for pro-life rights, the girls at the Wilmington location prayed the Rosary and led the group in songs inspiring life. To represent Padua’s dedicated stance on this issue, the girls sang two school favorites: “We Are One Body” and “Awesome God”. These songs demonstrated the campaign’s theme to end abortion by proclaiming that all life comes from God and should therefore be respected. This is the second year that Padua has taken witness to 40 Days for Life, which began on September 28th and will conclude on November 6th.
