This year’s Super Bowl was more exciting for football fans around the Maryland Delaware region. Why? The Baltimore Ravens made it to Super Bowl XLVII! It was also even more exciting for football fans from Delaware considering Joe Flacco, the Raven’s starting quarterback, graduated from the University of Delaware. Most people around the New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware area were rooting for the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. Joe Flacco grew up in New Jersey and attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Delaware. Joe started his career with the Ravens in 2008, and was overall 18th pick in the draft for the Ravens. Last time Baltimore was in the XXXV Super Bowl, and defeated the New York Giants with a score of 37-7.
On Super Bowl Sunday nearly 108 million people were watching the game and munching on their chips and wings. Many restaurants and bars in Baltimore are usually closed on Super Bowl Sunday, but not this year! Most were open to residents who want to see their team defeat the 49ers.
