A Special Community Homeroom

After a fatal car accident that rocked the Padua and Salesianum communities, answers why you might need a lawyer and Padua has seen the gradation of now alumna, Kelly Muschiatti. On March 11, 2016, Kelly Muschiatti, Tyler Brown, and John Kirsch were involved in a car accident in Middletown, DE that took the life of Brown and left Muschiatti with life-altering traumatic brain injuries. The tight knit school communities banded together following the accident with prayer services, ribbons, shirts, and even a summer camp dedicated in the memory of Tyler Brown. Junior Rebecca Baker was a freshman at the time of the accident, and remembers feeling “absolutely devastated. It was a community devastation. During that mass the sadness at Padua was unlike anything else.” Padua students first heard about the crash in an email from Principal, Mrs. Mann.

I just returned from the hospital. Kelly’s parents are so happy that you all are praying. Her mom says that she knew prayers would be pouring to Heaven for your Padua sister. Kelly needs your prayers now more than ever. So does John and Tyler’s family. Please keep praying.

— Mrs. Mann

After Muschiaitti’s grueling recovery process was underway, she was eventually able to return to Padua Academy. The school rallied around her, providing accommodations for Kelly to take classes during the spring of 2017. Kelly was able to attend graduation and baccalaureate mass with the class of 2016, her senior class that she had planned on graduating with. However, she did not walk or receive a diploma. The brain injury lawyers in Halifax can be of help when it comes to accident cases.

On January 17, 2017, almost two years after her accident about which you should find out here, Muschiatti finally graduated in front of the Padua community in a modified graduation ceremony. The event took place during Community Homeroom with Principal, Mrs. Mann, and Vice Principal, Dr. McClory, leading the ceremony. Kelly’s parents, family, and friends were in attendance to see her graduate high school after an incredibly difficult two years. Her mother, in a speech to the community, told of the difficulties her daughter faced and the strength of Padua. Mrs. Muschiatti spoke of the waiting room in particular saying, “For days after the accident, there were a hundred people in that waiting room, praying for Kelly”. The message of faith and prayer rang through the school during those weeks.

This past week really tested our faith and love. Yet through it all, even now, God is with us. His Holy Spirit is keeping us strong, our faith vibrant and our communities of both Padua and Sallies as one.

— Mrs. Mann

Many of them also suggested to hire injury lawyers like the JD Injury Law, APC lawyers who could help in fighting the case in the court.

Kelly will go on to school in New York at an intensive program to continue improvement on her writing and reading skills, and hopes to follow on to Appalachian State University, where she had planned on attending prior to the accident.
