Padua Commits to Safe Driving

During the week of October 18-26, 2013, Padua Academy is encouraging all of its students, faculty, and family members to make safe driving commitments. The school’s SADD/YELL committee entered Padua into a contest called “Celebrate My Drive,” which is powered by State Farm Insurance. Schools all over the nation are competing for a grand prize concert with Kelly Clarkson, a $100,000 grant for their school, or a $25,000 grant for their school.

Members of the community can enter on behalf of Padua through the Celebrate My Drive website. (http://www.celebratemydrive.com/RegisterStudent.aspx) When entering, the participant must provide an email address and birth date, affiliate themselves with their school, take a quick quiz on the facts of being safe in a car, and finally pledge to commit to safe driving. This process can be repeated every day for the duration of the contest.

As a constant reminder, emails will be sent out daily with the link. Also, representatives from State Farm will be set up in the back of the cafeteria during both lunches all week. The representatives will be giving out prizes and encouraging students to commit.

Any of the three prizes would be really great for Padua to have, but senior Emily Erdmann said it best. “Even if we don’t win the prizes,” says Emily, “a lot of people are pledging for safe driving and that is really good in itself.”
