This holiday season Padua Academy students grabbed a chance to “adopt” a child.  The students were able to a give a present to child whose families are in a crisis or unable to afford presents.  Brittany Conner stated, “Adopt-A-Family is a program in which Padua students can help the less fortunate have a happy holiday and receive gifts they might not normally receive.”  Padua students had the opportunity to choose a little card from the cafeteria bulletin board that held the information from a child and what they wanted for Christmas.  Emily Evans, a sophomore at Padua Academy, took two of these cards.  She got a three year old boy and a six year old girl, both of which wanted an outfit for Christmas.  Emily believes, “Adopt A Family is a good opportunity to give to others who don’t have as much as you, especially since it’s such an easy thing to go out and do.”

Mrs. Camm, a science teacher at Padua Academy, volunteered to help out with wrapping the gifts for the children.  “I feel that it is a valuable activity because it reminds us how lucky we are especially at the holidays when we are receiving so much,” said Mrs. Camm.  Nicole Bonacquisti spent time with Mrs. Camm wrapping the gifts.  Nicole said she believes Adopt-A-Family is a really good way to get involved to make sure other kids have a wonderful Christmas.  Also, it feels great to know that you are doing something right for a child in need.  Norman Vincent Peale once stated that “Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”  This season wave your magic wand and Adopt-A-Family.
