Big Sisters Sharing their Legacies

On May 13, the senior class met with its little sisters for the last Big Sister/Little Sister even before they graduate. Mrs. Burris and Mrs. Bilbao gathered the girls in the cafetorium during flex so that the freshmen and seniors could exchange final gifts before graduation.

The seniors took time to create a legacy card to give to their little sisters before they graduate. Written on the legacy cards were the most important things that the seniors learned throughout their years at Padua. This information was what they wanted to pass onto their little sisters to remember through their years at Padua.

The freshmen created “panda power packs” containing M&Ms, mini pretzels, Hershey Kisses, and craisins which were organized by assigning each of the freshmen homerooms one of the snacks to bring in and drop off to either Mrs. Burris or Mrs. Bilbao so that the packs could be assembled.

The event was led by Mrs. Burris and Mrs. Bilbao, and the ceremony started off with the Serenity Prayer. After praying, Mrs. Bilbao pulled up a short video that showed pictures of the seniors and freshmen throughout the year. There were pictures from the pool party from when the sisters first met each other, beanie week, the breakfast event in the beginning of the school year, the Big Sister/Little Sister sleepover, the Tea party, and the “lollipop moments” that were shared.

Once the video ended, the seniors stood up and recited a pledge, giving the freshmen their legacies card. Once the freshmen read their big sisters’ legacies, the freshman homeroom representatives handed out the “panda power packs” to the seniors. Homeroom representative Meghan P. said, “I’m really sad that my big sister is graduating this year but I really think that the legacy ceremony was a good way to end the year.” Even though the seniors are graduating, they are leaving their words of wisdom for their little sisters to remember and pass on throughout the years.
