Sparks flew in Philadelphia on August 6, 2011, as Taylor Swift sang to thousands of fans in Lincoln Financial Field during her “Speak Now” tour. Around 51,000 fans excitedly awaited the start of the concert while dancing and singing to the opening acts, James Wesley, Hunter Hayes, and Needtobreathe. With much energy circulating the stadium, Taylor opened with her famous song “Sparks Fly” and started the show. “I cried,” Brittany Conner (’14) reminisced, remembering when Taylor appeared on the stage. “She’s such an amazing person!”
Many other fans thought so too as she sang and danced to many of her songs including, “Mine,” “The Story of Us,” “Mean,” “Better Than Revenge,” “Speak Now,” “Fearless,” “You Belong With Me,” “Enchanted,” “Long Live,” and many more. She also had a few surprises, including wearing an Eagles Jersey over her beautiful ball gown. Taylor’s fans were amazed throughout the whole concert because it is not just a “concert” but truly a “show,” consisting of many costume changes, dancers, acrobats, and fireworks. All in all, the concert was just as “enchanting” as Taylor and her fans wished it would be and everyone went home that night knowing they would remember it forever.
