With the midpoint of the season right around the corner, the two-time state champions are setting their sights on the coveted three-peat. The Pandas started off their season with a nail-biter against Archmere Academy. After losing the first two sets, PAVB had to fight hard to win the back three. At a non-conference game against Paul VI in Virginia, Padua had their first lost in 26 games. That did not stop the varsity squad; they were able to come back and beat rival Saint Marks in three straight sets. Their next victim was Concord. Megan Barnett (‘16), and captain, Haley Baker (‘15), led the team with five aces a piece and were able to shut Concord down in three games. With a recent loss to Delaware Military Academy still stinging, the team is back in the gym getting ready for their next game putting the past behind them. Captain, Sarah Wiley (‘15), says, “The dynamic of the team is improving and we’re really starting to click and I feel that as the season goes on we’re getting stronger and better.” With games against Saint Elizabeth’s and Ursuline coming up soon, the team is working harder and getting stronger. The Pandas are ready for anything and can’t wait to head back to the State Championships!
