Cross Country Outstanding Season so Far

The Padua cross country team has had an amazing start to their season. The team began their season by traveling to the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia for the Quad X meet. After competing in Philadelphia, they raced at White Clay Creek State Park. The athletes competed by grade levels and worked together for the victory. After the win at White Clay, the girls traveled to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to race in the Carlisle Invitational on Saturday, September 27. With over 65 teams that attended the meet, Padua was challenged to put all of their hard work from practice and apply it in the race. With the help of the entire team, Padua won the varsity race and placed second in the JV race.

The season holds many challenging races to come, including the Paul Short Invitational, Manhattan Invite, and the Joe O’Neill Invite. Varsity runner, Lydia Olivere (‘18) expressed how she feels the season is going so far, “I think the cross-country season as a team is going great! We are such a close-knit unit of girls and it’s such a fun and rewarding experience. Personally, being surrounded by so many high-spirited dedicated runners has been so awesome.”
