Padua Soccer Team Wraps Up Phenomenal Season
The school year is coming to a close, and so is the soccer season for members of Padua’s soccer team. The girls finished up their final season game against St. Mark’s High School on Wednesday, May 13th with wins for both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. The games were held at Baynard Stadium, and seniors Kylie Puican and Karlee Panella celebrated their senior night and their final regular season game. After the game, both teams were invited back to Padua’s upper parking lot for the annual tailgate which included food and treats for players and their families. Overall, both the JV and Varsity teams had phenomenal seasons. Varsity finished with an overall record of 14-0-1 and placed first for the upcoming state tournament. Junior Varsity finished with an overall record of 8-0-1. Both teams practiced long and hard and worked together in order to achieve their impressive records. The Varsity team advanced to the state tournament, and Padua is hoping to claim another state title this year.
Freshman and Junior Varsity team member Anna Gallo comments on the amazing season by saying that she had a great time playing and also learned a lot about the sport. She comments about the success of the team by saying, “At the end of the day it came down to the teamwork and passing combinations on the field.” She says that she is looking forward to playing again next year and is excited to see how the Varsity team will do in the state tournament.
