The 2015 Grammy Awards

The 57th Grammy Awards took place on February 8th, with stars such as Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Beyonce and many more. Many artists took home one or more awards Sunday night, with Sam Smith winning Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Sam Smith has been in the public eye lately with his famous album In The Lonely Hour, with songs such as “Stay With Me” and “I’m Not The Only One.”

What’s the Grammy Awards without a little drama though? Many people were expecting popular British singer/song writer Ed Sheeran to win Album of the Year with his album “X” along with Beyonce for “Beyonce,” but they were both beaten by Beck. Beck also beat Pharrell Williams, causing Kanye West to take a stand. We all remember his interruption of Taylor Swift’s speech at the 2009 VMAs. He took the mic from Taylor Swift, who had just won Best Female Video, and ranted “I’m sorry, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.” This time around, he interrupted Beck’s acceptance speech, stating that Beyonce should have won Album of the Year. Everyone thought it was a joke since Kanye was laughing and Beck didn’t seem phased, but at the after party Kanye became serious and said Beck didn’t deserve to win.

Though the Grammys did have drama, many people still thoroughly enjoyed the show. From the performances, such as Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s “Cheek To Cheek”, to the tension of who won what award, and of course the beautiful dresses and suits of our favorite artists. This years Grammys had many surprises, but was overall a wonderful and charming award show.
