Partners in Science
From the week of March 24th until April 14th, Padua students of all ages signed up for a volunteer opportunity called Partners in Science. Run by Mrs. Alinda and Ms. Lammert, Padua girls meet after school and head over to UrbanPromise to work with elementary school students. A group of girls each have a certain day of the week, Monday-Thursday, in which they head over to work on science experiments with the kids. The groups meet on their specific day for four weeks.
The first time they meet, Padua girls get to know the kids and ask them questions having to do with what they think about science. The kids get to pick which science experiment they’d like to work on. The top pick is almost always slime! “Partners in Science is such a great program. It’s so cool seeing how excited the kids are to work on science experiments and be with us. I love working with kids and the program is a bunch of fun,” says sophomore Reyna Trujillo. At the last meeting, the students and kids win awards at a science fair. The kids are always so excited to meet new Padua students and make friends.
