Glee Tribute to Cory Monteith

On November 10th, Glee gave former actor Cory Monteith, “Fin Hudson”, a tribute in remembrance of his life and the time he spent on Glee. An episode was presented to honor and celebrate his memory and life through songs and actions. Cory Monteith passed away on July 13th, due to drug overdose. The cast presented an episode about the quarterback of the show. This episode was very thought through, close to all their hearts, and, especially, full of love.

The story was told three weeks after Fin’s funeral and shows his friends going back to Lima to participate in his memorial. The Glee club assignment was to think of songs that remind them of him, ones he sang, liked, or brought back memories of him, to show their special memorial to Fin. The class expresses how they’re not ready, but Mr. Shoster stands his ground that the assignment must be done. The songs they came up with included “I’ll Stand By You,” “Fire and Rain,” “If I Die Young,” “No Surrender,” and “Make You Feel my Love.” All of these songs were very powerful and from the heart. Each person got their chance to mourn over their loss and truly showed their feelings. The one that was most powerful was Lea Michele, “Rachel Barry.”

Lea Michele was shown in only a few scenes, but her appearances were most meaningful. She brought alive her feelings and emotions. She has such a love for Cory and is heartbroken at the fact he is gone. Cory and Lea have known each other since the start of Glee in 2009. Since 2012, the couple has been together on and off the scenes. They’ve gotten very serious about their relationship and Lea is still trying to get herself together since the loss.

This episode had many viewers in tears, though it is applauded for keeping it as positive as possible. Cory Monteith will definitely not be forgotten. Rest in peace, 1982- 2013.
