Dancing with the Stars: Another Season for the Books

Season 19 of Dancing With The Stars was unforgettable. From the show’s “spooktacular” Halloween special, to the behind the scenes drama, it always kept the audience wanting more. On Tuesday, November 25th, 2014, the winning couple of Dancing With The Stars was announced, and the outcome was not surprising. After 11 weeks, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson took home the coveted mirror ball trophy. From the beginning of the show, it was obvious that they deserved the win. “I had no doubt in my mind that they wouldn’t win the competition,” says freshman Mary Shannon Donnelly. With a busy schedule and multiple injuries, they still managed to dance their way to the top of the leaderboard week after week. According to an ABC News article, the couple even earned a perfect score of 40 points for both the throwback and freestyle round the night before the winner was announced. Other highlights of the couple included Ribeiro’s tribute to his “Bel-Air” days, by dancing the beloved “Carlton.” It was highly anticipated in the show, praised by the judges, and again. scored 40 points out of 40.

Placing second in the competition was Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas. Their dance has been called the most creative freestyle of all time; it was a tribute to the classic video game, Super Mario Brother. Stated by judge Carrie Ann Inaba, “That was the most memorable freestyle I’ve ever seen in ages,” (ABC News). Placing third in the competition was Pretty Little Liars star, Janel Parrish, and partner, Val. One of their most memorable dances included one in the Halloween special. A tribute to the beloved show, “Pretty Little Liars”, the routine received many positive comments from viewers and fans all over the country. Last but not least, YouTube sensation, Bethany Mota, and her partner, Derek Hough, had placed fourth. However, she still left the competition with pride. With no dance experience, Bethany received perfect scores multiple weeks during the season, and she had not failed to be noticed with her powerful dance routines and emotion she put into it. A highlight in her DWTS career was her freestyle dance called “Revolution,” showing that no one can bring her down.
