Freshman to Sophomore Transition

Freshman+to+Sophomore+Transition+

The transition from being an incoming freshman to a returning sophomore doesn’t seem much different at first; however, that changes quickly. More pressure is put on a student, along with much more expectations. When asked about expectations for this year, sophomore Mia Cimino answered, “I expect more work, along with much more expectations.”  Also, as soon as classes start, teachers are already announcing the many upcoming projects, both group and independent assignments.

In addition, tenth graders are now responsible for learning how to drive and working towards getting their permit. The positive differences include that the students have had some previous experiences with some of their teachers, and understand the teacher’s academic expectations. As a freshman it was easy to get lost; however returning to Padua for another year makes it simpler to get around. Sophomores now have freshmen looking up to them for help locating classrooms and making new friends. They understand the Sisterhood of Padua and are ready to share it with the new students.
