“I can’t, I have work after school”

The older a person gets the more responsibilities she is going to have to endure. One example is getting a job. Parents can’t pay for everything all the time and working should be on everyone’s list when they are in high school. Everyone has to start somewhere to gain experience. It doesn’t matter if they are a babysitter, a hostess, or even just a cashier at a retail job, getting experience out in the real world is important.

Being in school and having a job is difficult sometimes, especially with the amount of work a student has to do. Jenna Riggs (‘15) has a job during the school year and she said, “It feels good to make my own money, but it’s also quite stressful with the load of work we have this year and then have a job at the same time.” Having a job can help you learn responsibility with managing time and money.  As Caitlyn Reed (‘16) explained, “I like have my own money, it helps build responsibility and manage time between my job and school.”  Working while dealing with school can cause stress and frustration. The students deal with it efficiently while using the opportunity to their advantages to become responsible and gain time management skills.
