Senior Retreat

Senior Retreat

Padua Seniors marched to the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 26th, to participate together on their final retreat. They were allowed to dress down and form their own small groups together with no less than 6 girls but no more than 12 girls.

Mrs. Vavala, the Director of Campus Ministry, opened the retreat with a prayer and several seniors contributed to reading a small speech commemorating the successes the class has had together over the past four years of high school. Mrs. Vavala then introduced Steve Angrisano, a veteran musician, composer, youth minister, and gifted storyteller. Mr. Angrisano led the seniors in an intense game of Simon Says, then proceeded to tell a couple of stories and play his guitar while singing Christian songs.

Other hands-on activities that the seniors participated in included standing in a circle and tossing shoes to each other in a specific order and also constructing a tall tower built of dry pasta and marshmallows. After Mr. Angrisano told a story about finding God, the seniors were asked to share with each other where they have seen God in others and themselves. Mr. Angrisano explained how the Holy Spirit works through each and every one of us and it is our job to simply “cooperate with grace.” Seniors enjoyed the last hour together by eating pizza and spending time with friends before they proceeded to return back to Padua to hear Angrisano share stories and sing songs with the school.
