Flappy Bird Shuts Down

Flappy Bird is the new game sweeping the nation. It is being called “the next

Angry Birds.” It is considered to be very difficult, and extremely addicting. The point

of the game is to use your finger to navigate a bird through tubes without touching

them. Freshman Chloe S. says, “ I like Flappy Bird, but it is really hard and

sometimes gets annoying.” The game, which came out May 24, 2013, has just

recently become very popular. It was making its creator, Dong Nguyen, around

$50,000 per day. Despite all of the money it was making him, Nguyen was not happy

with his game. On February 8, 2014, he posted on Twitter, “I am sorry Flappy

Bird users, 22 hours from now, I will take Flappy Bird down. I cannot take this

anymore.” Nguyen said in an interview that, “Flappy Bird was designed to play in a

few minutes when you are relaxed. But it happened to become an addictive product.

I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy

Bird. It’s gone forever.” On February 9th, 2014, exactly 22 hours after his post,

Flappy Birdwas taken off the App Store. Anyone who has downloaded Flappy Birds

can still continue to play it though.
