On October 4, 2012, the juniors participated in junior service day. The girls went to twelve different organizations that were in need of service. This included Seamen’s Center, the Little Sisters of the Poor, Urban Promise School, Mom’s House, Ministry of Care Child Care, the Clothing Bank, Birthright of Delaware, Riverside Adult Day Program, Claymont Community Center, St. Anthony’s Day Care, and St. Anthony’s Preschool. All of these programs need help everyday because of the amount of people that come to use their programs.. Many of the girls said they enjoyed the place they visited. Junior Maggie Lizzi said, “I went to the Clothing Bank, and I had a great time. The people had plenty for us to do, and by having plenty to do, the day went by fast.” Some of the girls were stretched in their willingness to serve. Junior Victoria Butler said, “I was put in a tiny room by myself, with papers to put in folders. All of the girls I was with, were separated and put somewhere by themselves.”
After the juniors did their service, the class came back to school to talk about their experiences. Over all, most of the junior class, had a great time , helping the places they served at. Some of the junior learned stories about the places they went to, and others formed bonds with the kids at the school they went to. Junior service day was a day of serving those who needed help, and learning about other people’s live. Over all, the junior class had an exciting day helping those who needed them.
