Pope Francis Video Chats with Students

On January 22, 2015, Pope Francis took part in a Google online video chat with two high school students from Nebraska. The two students, Isaiah Bauer and Teynor Krason, were the only students from the United States to participate in the online video chat. Along with Isaiah and Teynor, students from Spain, Brazil, and India logged on to join the chat and hear what Pope Francis had to say.

While chatting with him, the two students asked Pope Francis how he deals with difficult situations. Pope Francis gave the teenage boys advice by telling them that it is important to not get upset when a difficult situation arises. The two boys said they felt both nervous and excited after the chat with Pope Francis. Besides just talking about the issue of stress and difficult situations, Pope Francis also gave the students his opinions and insight about technology in today’s world. He also asked for the students’ inputs on the topic and listened to what they had to say.

“I think it is great that the Pope takes time out of his busy schedule to reach out to teenagers in today’s world.” Victoria Anderson (’18) comments. Overall, this interesting event shows that despite his crazy life and filled schedule, Pope Francis still takes time out of his day to reach out to others.
