Meet Gillian

Meet+Gillian

Gillian I. cannot only be seen in the hallways heading to class, but she can also be found playing volleyball for the Delaware Juniors Volleyball Club. Gillian is a Padua freshman and a former Padua fall cheerleader. She was on the sidelines of every Sallies home football game, encouraging the players and helped lead them to a state championship. Not only does she cheer, but Gillian also plays volleyball. Unfortunately, this year cheerleading and volleyball conflicted with each other, and Gillan could not be a part of the Padua volleyball team for the 2013-2014 season.

Gillian attended The Independence School in Newark, Delaware. While attending The Independence School, Gillian played soccer and volleyball. She is currently playing volleyball for a club team, Delaware Juniors, but during the fall sports season, Gillian cheered for Padua’s Cheerleading team. Gillian explains that she “wanted to try something different and cheerleading seemed fun.”

Although Gillian plays both volleyball and cheerleading, she prefers volleyball because she has more experience with the sport. She has played volleyball since middle school and has also played for a club volleyball team for three years. Gillian is definitely considering trying out for the Padua Volleyball team during her sophomore year. She is not sure if she will be trying out for the Padua Cheerleading team next year, due to the conflict between the two sports. Gillian is also very interested in track, but does not know if she will be participating in the sport either.

While balancing her practices for these two sports, Isabelle also has to focus on school. Since she takes mostly honors classes, Gillian receives plenty of homework.  To balance sports and school, Gillian says, “ I try and just do all my work whenever I can, in the empty spaces before and after practice.”

Although Gillian Isabelle does not know what she wants to be when she grows up, she is interested in the field of psychology. She is planning to take AP Psychology her sophomore year to learn more about the field. Gillian does not know where she would like to go to college, but is planning on living out her high school years before she has to start thinking about college. No matter where Gillian ends up going to college and what she ends up doing for her career, she will always have the support from her family, friends, and her Padua sisters.
