Micaela K. is not only living the life of a Padua freshman, but she is also very involved in Padua sports. She is a member of the Padua fall cheerleading team and plans to tryout for the spring track team. Micaela has been preparing for the upcoming tryouts, and is still managing to keep up with her school work.

Micaela went to St. Francis de Sales elementary school for the past nine years. She not only stays involved at Padua, but she is also was very involved at her past school. She explains, “I was a part of the track team for four years in fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth grade. I also was on the Cheerleading squad in fourth and fifth grade.” She now participates in clubs that were not offered at St. Francis de Sales, like Ronald’s Rescue. Micaela also has a lot of experience with sports both inside and outside of her grade school.

Cheerleading is not just another fun activity for Micaela, as she adds,  “It’s a great way to show my Padua school spirit.” She loves performing her routines and cheering for the Sallies football team. Her two years of experience at her grade school really encouraged her to join Padua’s squad. Micaela says cheerleading taught her the true meaning of sisterhood, since she participated on a team of different grades. All of her teammates welcomed her with open arms and she really enjoyed the fall season with each member.

Since cheerleading practices were during the week, she says, “It wasn’t that hard to get done all my work because we practiced only two days a week and I did most of my school work during flex.” On the other hand, this is not the case with track season coming up. She is beginning to manage her time more carefully and to organize her schedule, so practice will be easier for her everyday.

With track tryouts coming up, Micaela is becoming more and more excited to join the team. She has had a lot of experience with this sport, participating in it for four years at St. Francis de Sales. She expects high school track to be much different from her past school as she says, “I think that there will be better coaching. I’ll make new friends with upperclassmen and I’ll become closer with my track friends, since I’ll see them everyday at practice.” She is ready to work hard and to perform at the best of her abilities. Through all of these extracurricular activities, she still manages to balance school work with practices and games.
