Movie Review: Frozen

The movie starts in the kingdom of Arendelle.  The two young princess, Anna and Elsa, have the strongest bond of sisterhood.  Sadly, Elsa is a little different.  She has the ability to create ice and snow.  Tragedy strikes when Elsa accidentally hurts her younger sister.  To save and protect Anna, Elsa had to disappear and Anna had to forget magic.  Years pass, the queen and king have died and now Elsa must become queen.  During the reception of Elsa’s coronation, Anna meets Prince Hans of the Southern Isles and believed it was true love.

An argument happens between the sisters, when Anna wants to be married to Hans and Elsa says no.  Elsa accidentally lashed out and showed everyone her power.  In fear, she runs away to the mountain.  Anna goes to follow her sister with the help of Olaf the snowman, mountain man Kristoff and his reindeer Sven.  When sisters are reunited, another argument breaks out and Elsa once again hurts her younger sister, only this time it could possibly kill Anna.  Unless it’s thawed by “an act of true love,” she will become frozen solid forever.  When Anna is reunited with Hans and begs him to kiss her to break the curse, Hans refuses, revealing his true plan of marrying Anna to seize control of Arendelle’s throne.  Hans leaves Anna to die alone.

After Anna escapes, she saves Elsa from being hurt by Hans by going in between them.  As Elsa grieves for her sister, Anna begins to thaw; her decision to sacrifice herself to save her sister constituting an “act of true love.” Realizing love is the key to controlling her powers, Elsa is able to thaw the kingdom.  And everyone lives happily ever after.

Frozen was an adorable children’s movie.  It was a cartoon, comedy, fantasy  musical with a plot of an adventure.  Although it was cute, it was very predictable much like every other Disney movie.  There’s a heroine and a villain.  Heroine falls in love with her prince charming.  Heroine wins and everythings ends with a happily ever after.  Half way through the movie, it easy to see who the characters really are.  Disney likes to show the love conjures all.  It was enjoyable and charming and something children and teenagers will like.
