Located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor is the famous National Aquarium. This nonprofit attraction was created in 1981 and provides all of the resources needed for families to learn about a variety of animals. A young member of the Kipnis family described the most interesting part for her as she stated, “I liked the turtles. It was cool that they could live here.”

There are various locations within the aquarium. Some of the more popular exhibits include Animal Planet Australia, Atlantic Coral Reef, Blacktip Reef, Dolphin Discovery, and the Tropical Rain Forest. Shirley, a member of staff at the aquarium, finds it difficult to decide on what her favorite part of the aquarium is as she stated, “I don’t think I have a favorite exhibit!”

Over 17,000 animals are kept here represent a significant learning curve for the whole nation. The world has been faced with drastic decreases in the amount of aquatic life, but this aquarium specifically strives to conserve their important part in our society. The Baltimore Aquarium aims to teach people not only about various types of aquatic life, but also about why these animals are so significant.

The National Aquarium represents more to America than just a place to see the biodiversity from the Atlantic to Pacific. Rather, it is a place for people to learn, teach, and experience the essential aspects of wildlife that make up our society. America’s culture is a culmination of various cultures, similar to how the aquarium is a culmination of various animals.
