How to have a Successful Staycation

Spring break is fast approaching and you could either be going somewhere tropical like Florida, California, or the Bahamas, or you could be staying home. Most people would love to go and get a tan on a beach, but for the people that stay home, you may get bored. There is still so much to do while you are home for spring break, yet most people overlook those options.

So here’s your situation, your friends are going places for spring break and you’re staying home and you think it’s the end of the world, but this is actually the perfect time to get stuff done. Friends, though they’re are enjoyable to have around, can be very distracting. Without these distractions, you can clean your room. While you’re cleaning, listen to your favorite summer so that you will not only be in a good mood, but the time will also go by faster.

Another thing you can do is catch up on some school work. Most people don’t think about school on spring break, but if you do your school work outside in the grass or at your local park, you get outside and in the fresh air. Freshman Judi M.’20 said, “I think that working outside in the fresh air helps me learn things faster and it makes me want to work harder. I will definitely be working outside this spring break because even though I don’t want to do the work, doing it outside will definitely motivate me.”

You can also use this extra time to spend with your family. Have a family movie or game night and put away all electronics so that you can spend time with them without distractions. Most high schoolers agree that the only time they see their family during the school year is at the dinner table. Having a stay at home spring break can be fun and remember to enjoy yourself. Happy spring break!
