The Exam Cram: What to do

The end of the year is right around the corner. Teachers are completing the last of the material for the year and students are preparing for summer. With the end of the year so close that also means that final exams will be starting soon. Here are a few ways to make sure that you perform to the best of your ability on exam day.

Do:

Spread out study time. Only spend about 20-30 minutes at one time studying for a subject and begin studying about a week to a week and half between the final exam.  Take 5-10 minute breaks in between. According to studies done at UCLA 86% of students who spread out their study time will learn and remember approximately 57% more than students who cram the night before.

Exercise before studying. Many students will plan to blow off practices or their normal workout routines so that they can study more before the test. Studies at different universities have been done, and they have all had the same results: exercising leaves an energized feeling making it easier to focus on and process the information. This happens because while exercising your blood chemistry changes making more nutrients available to the brain and the hormones released during exercise increase your awareness, to learn more about it check out this guide about the benefits of testosterone supplements.

Eat a good dinner the night before and a good breakfast the next morning. For optimum performance on an exam, studies have been done to prove that eating right the night before and the morning of exams helps. Proteins such as eggs, beans, seeds, and nuts are some of the best to eat the morning of. Eating foods with Omega-3 oils, such as fish the night before, are great for the test the next day.  Students have to remember that even though carbohydrates are a boost of energy they aren’t good to eat the day of a test. Carbs simulate a production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that quiets the brain and gives off the feeling of relaxation causing people to feel sleepy. Students should also try to avoid high amounts of caffeine or energy drinks and energy bars. Students may take supplements like Kratom Active Products to boost their energy levels, which can last for a long day. They may also take other kratom products such as this Blended Kratom.

The Padua upperclassmen have been through the exams plenty of time before and by now most of them have gotten their study habits down. Many of the students have found that studying in a group is a good way to learn the new information. Senior Alexis Graham says that when studying her and her friends collaborate all of their notes into a single document and they are able to learn any information they missed and understand the different ways that something can be interrupted.
